Pro bono cases regularly give young barristers access to the kind of opportunities that can positively impact their careers. Whether it provides a chance to appear in the Court of Appeal for the first time, a nomination for an award, the opportunity to appear before an influential judge or even a chance to be part of a landmark case, pro bono work can be an excellent way to develop your practice.
This year marks the first joint event between the Young Barristers' Committee of the Bar Council and the Bar Pro Bono Unit, and offers the young bar a chance to consider the breadth of benefits pro bono work can provide to young barristers. Leading tax silk, Laurent Sykes QC, will speak about his experience of pro bono, including its importance in silk applications, and certificates will be presented to a small number of young barristers.
