An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Practice Manager to join our dynamic clerking team. Alongside the Directors of Clerking, the Senior Practice Manager will take the lead in the day-to-day management of the clerks’ room and will support the Directors of Clerking in ensuring that our talented clerking team delivers a first-class service both internally and externally. Person Specification

  • Significant experience of clerking in a high-pressure work environment.
  • Able to work well with a wide range of people & confident working independently.
  • Excellent people skills & the ability to build both strong internal & external relationships.
  • Able to work well in a pressured environment, to prioritise and deliver on multiple demands.
  • Excellent communication skills - both written & oral.
  • Strong negotiation, persuasion, prioritisation skills.
  • Discrete handling confidential information.

Key Responsibilities

  • General duties include but not limited to the marketing and development of the practices of barristers to maintain a good supply of work, conducting Practice Development meetings with members of chambers, diary and practice management including the allocation and distribution of new work, booking hearings and conferences, fixing cases with courts, and advising professional clients of counsel’s availability, negotiating fees on behalf of barristers.

Professional Qualifications

  • Should have gained at least 2 A Levels or equivalent qualifications and have significant experience of clerking.
