Senior Clerk

About this Job

Due to the planned retirement of the long-standing incumbent, the set now seeks a Senior Clerk with the ambition and vision to lead Chambers's strategic development and overall management.

The Senior Clerk will be the most senior member of staff and will report to the Head of Chambers and Management Committee. The role will be both strategic and supervisory. They will also have overall responsibility for clerking and for the leadership and management of the wider staff team.

187 Chambers is a leading Criminal Law set that has maintained a significant presence on the South-Eastern Circuit for the last 50 years. Their work covers the full spectrum of criminal work at the highest level, including large-scale fraud and murder, as well as general crime and regulatory law.

The set comprises over 55 barristers and 7 KCs and is housed in a modern building with excellent facilities and infrastructure, overlooking the Middle Temple gardens

Person Specification

The Senior Clerk will need to be proactive and driven in assisting Chambers to develop and implement a long-term strategy, including Business Development and Marketing planning, to ensure the continuing growth and development of Chambers and its Members.
