About this Job

The post requires excellent organisational and administrative skill, good communication and ability to build good working relationships with barristers and staff. Daily tasks of an Administrator in Chambers are wide ranging and interesting. They deal with very high profile cases so confidentiality is imperative within this role.

The role broadly covers HR administration, for both staff and tenants, pupillage recruitment administration, mini-pupillage and work experience organisation.

Our Client is a large and dynamic Barristers' Chambers with a fantastic team of staff who provide the clerking, financial, marketing and administrative support for nearly 200 barristers. They are a diverse set, specialising in all aspects of human rights and social welfare law, including crime, family law, housing, immigration, and civil law. They are based in a Grade 1 listed building in Lincoln's Inn Fields, close to Holborn tube station and a range of shops, bars and restaurants.

Person Specification

  • A level education or equivalent
  • Experience of working in barristers chambers
  • Experience of dealing with pupillage or trainee recruitment
  • Experience of HR administration
  • Knowledge of Data Protection

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of Pupillage (Trainee and Graduate Recruitment) process
  • Organise training of new pupil supervisors (in house and by the Inns)
  • Assisting Operations and HR Director with maintaining Staff and Pupillage Handbook
  • Assisting Operations and HR Director with arranging training for staff
  • Ensuring that staff appraisals records are up to date and send reminders where appropriate
  • Assisting with any ad hoc projects run by the Director of Operations and HR
  • Assisting HR Director with administration of recruiting and onboarding of new tenants
