We manage the practices of a group of the UKs leading civil and commercial mediators. Members specialise in providing their services across all areas of business and law. Chambers are seeking a Practice Manager / Clerk to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of friendly, professional, customer-centric small team based in Bedfordshire.

The Practice Manager / clerk will work with a small team of practice manager / practice administrators in conjunction with the CEO sharing responsibility for managing the mediators practices. The ideal candidate will have clerking experience or similar experience working in a law firm environment in a small to medium-sized office. Ideally with a number of years experience of working in an office environment. An excellent opportunity for someone seeking a varied and interesting role in friendly and supportive team.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills, reliable, calm, with technical know-how and able to multitask effectively. The aim being to provide a friendly, professional and efficient support to chambers.

Core Duties:

  • Diary and practice management.
  • Booking mediations and advising clients of mediator availability.
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with clients.
  • Communicating with instructing solicitors and clients by telephone and email in a professional and timely manner.
  • Using chambers database system to oversee accurate recordkeeping including data capture in relation to enquiries, agreeing terms and general case management.
  • Provide quotations for work in line with chambers fees policy.
  • Collection and processing of timesheets onto chambers database system.
  • Invoice generation.
  • Managing fees on behalf of the mediators and keeping appropriate records.
  • Assisting with collection of fees.
  • Marketing and development of the practices of the mediators.
  • Work collaboratively with the CEO to support the activities of Chambers’ business development activities.
  • Keeping an eye on industry press for sector developments.
  • An intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office and applications.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all matters.
