Chambers is recruiting for a Marketing & Communications Manager to support and enhance their marketing efforts. This is an exciting opportunity to join a very busy and dynamic set in an interesting and varied role encompassing many tasks within chambers marketing strategy such as digital marketing, webinars and training, social media, directories and awards, profiles, events and communications. It requires a pro-active and coordinated approach, working closely alongside the senior staff and barristers.


The successful candidate will ideally have knowledge of the legal market or chambers environment and/or have a background in and thorough understanding of marketing. You should be able to demonstrate an excellent standard of written skills and attention to detail whilst also being creative. You will demonstrate effective teamwork, be comfortable managing numerous deadlines at any time whilst working in a fast-paced environment. You will report to the Senior Practice Managers.

Job Description:

Role Purpose

To manage all aspects of marketing and communications within Guildhall Chambers. You will work alongside the Barristers, Clerks and Senior Staff, implementing the marketing and business development strategies and effectively managing events and all duties relating to the promotion of Guildhall Chambers. To ensure a strong market profile of Guildhall Chambers and individual Barristers via effective, professional and consistent standards of communications.


Key Accountabilities


  1. Strategy & Budget

Working with the Senior Practice Managers to provide input and assist with devising the marketing strategy for Chambers and the individual team plans. You will work alongside members and clerks to oversee and implement the marketing plans throughout the year, monitor spend against financial budgets for each team, and provide regular updates to the Senior Practice Managers. You will assist clerks in business development opportunities and incorporate this into marketing plans as opportunities arise.


  1. Digital & Website

Responsible for online marketing, working with the Clerks and members to ensure the website is regularly updated with relevant content. You will have regular contact with members to ensure their profiles are kept up to date. You will lead on coordinating photography and the production of marketing literature/publications as required. There may be times where it will be necessary to work with third party providers to implement changes as Chambers sees fit, ensuring that all procurement costs remain within budget and the Guildhall brand is adhered to.


  1. Social Media

Responsible for all social media accounts for Chambers, working in conjunction with the Senior Practice Managers to ensure a systematic approach is used in relation to Chambers online profile. Ensuring that everyone is adhering to the social media policy when posting content.


  1. Public Relations (‘PR’)

Responsible for the management of Chambers PR including news, articles, updates and announcements, liaising with external media agencies as required and ensuring accurate, timely publication as directed.


  1. Brand & Branded Merchandise

Responsible for managing and maintaining branded office templates. Ensuring correct use of corporate identity by all staff and barristers and for the cost-effective procurement of branded stationary items, literature and business cards and all merchandise.


  1. Directories & Awards

Responsible for identifying opportunities for awards to achieve market recognition for Guildhall Chambers. Working with the Senior Practice Managers and Clerks to prepare suitable submissions for awards. Managing the directory submissions process, including collating, formatting and proof-reading individual submissions for Chambers UK and Legal 500 to ensure continued and enhanced recognition for Practice Teams and Barristers.



  1. External Events (incl. in-house training)

Responsible for managing the sponsorship, planning, budgeting, procurement, organisation and delivery of external events in conjunction with Practice Team Heads and Clerks. Ensuring that all events are conducted to a high standard and suitable feedback is collected and reviewed for continued improvement.


  1. Student Events

Responsible for the co-ordination and event support for any internal or external student related events, acting as the point of contact for information, dates and volunteering opportunities. Working with the Senior Practice Managers and those members responsible for Pupillage and Mini Pupillage to organise and plan campaigns for the application processes.


  1. Internal Events

Working with the senior staff and taking responsibility for the planning, budgeting, procurement, organisation and delivery of Christmas and Summer events for Chambers and providing event support to the Head of Chambers for any other ad-hoc internal events as required, working in conjunction with the Fun Committee.


Chambers/ General

Facilitate and support a culture of collaboration and teamwork across Chambers.

Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and complying with, all Chambers policies and procedures with particular reference to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Undertake continuing professional development as appropriate and to take a keen interest in the legal market.

Proactively support the wider staff team in the provision of business and practice support for Chambers.

Undertake such other duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably required within the level and grading of the post, working flexibly across other areas of the Chambers as required.
