Junior Barrister's Clerk

This is an entry level role and offers the foundation to an exciting career in clerking which may suit a college leaver or those with some work experience. You will need excellent communication skills and a strong academic record. You will provide administrative and organisational support to the Practice Management Team, as well as assisting colleagues to deliver an efficient and professional service to barristers and clients.

Person Specification

• Good spoken and written English
• Good knowledge of Microsoft software
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Good organisational and time management skills; the ability to work in a disruptive environment with competing demands and to prioritise effectively
• Potential to develop and take on senior responsibilities
• Flexibility, adaptability and willingness to help out
• Good attention to detail

Key Responsibilities

• Accompany barristers to and from court.
• Undertake case entry including new and opportunity case records, new client contacts and amendment of existing contacts.
• Lodging authorities and skeleton arguments with the courts and tribunals.
• Attending court listing appointments, checking court and tribunal listings on a daily basis and notifying barristers of the next day’s commitments.
• Record on the fees and diary system
• Attend meetings and assist with supporting the whole staff team as directed
