Reporting directly to the Senior Clerk and Head of Chambers, the successful applicant will also work closely with and provide full support to Chambers’ various committees and other senior Members of Chambers and staff. The postholder will drive and improve the efficient operation of Chambers business, managing and delivering a broad range of functions, often with competing deadlines. To deliver this successfully requires a multi-skilled individual capable of demonstrating leadership.

Our client is a market leading Common Law and specialist International Barristers’ Chambers with offices in London and the Hague. Chambers is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to lead, manage and continue to develop Chambers’ business and operational functions.

Person Specification

A graduate or equivalent professional or vocational qualification with a minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience in a similarly multi-faceted role. Prior Chambers/Legal experience considered an advantage but is not a pre-requisite. Essential skills and traits include accounts and project management, exceptional verbal and written communication, a hands-on, can-do approach, team ethos, highly organised, ability to be persuasive, with a confident and diplomatic approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • • Financial reporting, supplier invoice and budget management
  • • Payroll (Sage) and communicating with external accountants
  • • Negotiating and liaising with all contractors on terms of engagement
  • • Onboarding for new staff/barristers
  • • Legal directories, liaison, submission, promotion
  • • Overseeing Marketing Events and Activities
  • • Compliance, H&S, Insurance
  • • Line management for FoH, Administrator, Librarian
  • • Chambers’ Premises and Facilities Management
  • • Assisting with the pupillage process
