The successful candidate will have experience working within a Barristers Chambers or a solicitors firm, ideally in Civil Law. This role will suit a confident and proactive individual with good understanding of the relevant areas of law.

Our client, one of the largest and most successful Barristers’ Chambers in the UK, is seeking an enthusiastic and conscientious person to support and develop their Civil Liberties and Housing Practice Team.

Person Specification

  • 3-5 years of clerking or equivalent experience gained in the legal sector within Civil Law, including diary management, and liaising with solicitors and court staff.
  • Experience in negotiating case fees.
  • Pro-active and solution oriented approach to working and problem solving.
  • Calm, patient and flexible approach to work in a very busy environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promoting the team and individual team members with professional clients and other organisations.
  • Accurate case administration including arranging and booking in cases, conferences and meetings. Liaising and communicating with professional clients and courts, maintaining the highest standards of client care.
  • Upkeep of diary, ensuring barristers are aware of commitments and undertaking future booking troubleshooting.
  • Negotiating fees and finalising funding for cases including those cases funded privately, by legal aid, CFAs and costs budgeting.
