To manage the day-to-day running of barrister’s practices and to have responsibility with other staff team members for the development of all members’ highly specialist practices.

To support business development and marketing activities for defined practice areas and for the enhancement of Chambers’ profile in the market, including the development of client relationships.

The role is integral to the efficient and effective functioning of the team.

Person Specification

Suitable candidates will have a significant track record working in a similarly reputable Barristers’ Chambers (2+ years), ideally with an understanding of the requirements of managing the practices of barristers in Clinical Negligence and associated areas of law. You will also have knowledge of the compliance and regulatory aspects relevant to working in a Barristers’ Chambers. This client facing role also requires an understanding and previous experience in marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the clerking function provides an effective and efficient service to all members of Chambers (and specifically barristers within the team’s area of responsibility), solicitors and other professional clients at all times
  • All aspects of diary management eg fixing hearings (in all divisions), conferences, recording of deadlines and advising solicitors of counsel’s availability
  • Fielding, dealing with and delegating enquiries, agreeing contracts and case management
