Join us for a discussion around parental leave for barristers and parenting at the Bar.
This session will discuss the issues surrounding supporting new parents at the Bar including best practice for chambers’ policies, financial barriers, training for staff and clerks and promoting a culture of change. Our speakers will include Emma Price, 5 Essex Chambers and Nikki Alderson, two of the leading voices on talent retention and better working practices for parents at the Bar.
Together with her co-author, Emma-Louise Fenelon, Emma Price recently published Baby at the Bar, a comprehensive guide for barristers embarking on the parenting journey or working their way through it. A fellow author having published Raising the Bar: empowering female lawyers through coaching in 2019, Nikki Alderson spent 19 years as a criminal barrister before becoming a specialist international coach and TEDx speaker working with female lawyers, law firms, professional organisations.
The session will be moderated by Richard Khaldi, CEO at St John’s Chambers.
