Our client is a highly regarded barristers’ chambers with 70 tenants, including one newly appointed silk and two associate silks. 

Members of chambers practice in all areas of family and related law, including private and public children law, financial and property proceedings associated with marriage or partnership breakdown, court of protection law, international movement of children, law relating to alternative families and human rights law.  Chambers has a clear commitment to client service and care.

Chambers now seeks to appoint a highly suitable individual to the newly created role of Senior Fees Clerk.

The Role:

This important and hands on role works closely with the Director of Clerking to manage and develop the fees functions of Chambers.  They will also manage a team of two. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining highly efficient and streamlined fees systems for Chambers.
  • Ongoing review and monitoring of systems and processes to ensure best practice.
  • Management and development of fees team.
  • Billing and management of all fees including private, legally aided (FAS/FGF/CCMS/High Cost/Old style)
  • Monitoring/producing fee reports, managing unbilled fees, fee note reminders and letters.
  • Legal aid taxations - liaising with instructing solicitors, counsel, creation of appropriate correspondence.
  • Effective and active management of all aged debt, including individual members.
  • Dealing with the payment of all fees on LEX system

The person will be:

Comfortable managing and leading others whilst working in an efficient manner.  Used to dealing with high volumes of information and working to deadlines.  Comfortable creating and presenting reports for use by colleagues and management teams. Highly organised, numerate and professional, with a can-do approach to work. Calm under pressure, punctual, reliable and flexible and a supportive team player.
