Doughty Street Chambers is one of the UK's best known sets of barristers, comprising almost 150 lawyers supported by 40 staff. Our barristers provide advice and advocacy to those needing help across many different areas of law, and our clients are almost always individuals or organisations who are in dispute with the State, or where there is some other inequality of arms. Many of our cases involve issues of human rights and civil liberties. Our clients come from all walks of life, including regulated professionals, company directors, magic circle and Big 4 firms, United Nations officials, and Ministers and Heads of Government, homeless families, children, victims of trafficking, the socially disadvantaged, the mentally and physically disabled, asylum seekers, those accused of criminal offences as well as the instructing solicitors who represent them. We practise in crime, civil law, public and administrative law, international law, mediation, and arbitration.
The role of Regional Business Development Manager for the North and South West of England (likely based in our Manchester office, but this could be flexible) will accelerate the growth of our national profile, which is a key element of our strategic plan for the next three years. the role allows for a significant degree of creativity in how you cultivate relationships and work from solicitors and other referrers of work. It is likely to involve client and other visits across the regions including out-of-hours work. We are happy to consider applications from professional BD, marketers, solicitors or barrister's clerks who may wish to take their career in a different direction. We are also happy to consider applications from those who may wish to work flexibly.
You will have at least ten years' experience working in the legal industry, or BD and marketing experience from the professional services sector and you will have a sound knowledge of the legal market in the North and South West of England. You will be commercially minded and inventive, as well as self-confident and happy to work with limited supervision. You will also be able to achieve quick buy-in from barristers and other senior stakeholders using your exceptional communication skills. You will be happy working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
