Our Client is a professional town-planning consultancy employing almost 40 staff, across its three offices.

The company now seeks to appoint a highly suitable individual to the newly created role of Practice Manager to work closely with directors and other members of the senior team. This position will offer high-level business support, assistance in developing business strategies and the implementation of workplace procedures.

Main Duties include:

  • Inputting into the development of business strategies
  • Assisting with the management of external suppliers e.g. IT
  • Managing the office budget
  • Liaising with business development consultants and service providers (e.g. MCA)
  • Managing the client database with input from fee-earning staff
  • Organising company events, conferences and hospitality
  • Maintaining a list of key advertising deadlines (e.g. consultancy survey)
  • Liaising with the in-house communications team to ensure that internal news is communicated effectively
  • Responsibility for keeping personnel records up to date (including holiday and absence records)
  • Responsibility for the bi-annual review and appraisal process
  • Managing recruitment, arranging interviews etc
  • Organising induction programmes for new employees, arranging photography etc
  • Devising and implementing company policies

Person Specification

  • Experience of working in a professional services environment is preferred
  • An understanding of the planning and development process is preferred
  • Experience of effective BD and client relationship management is preferred
  • Experience of managing staff / HR is preferred
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to use wide range of software packages
