The Head of Services to the Bar is a new role in the Services department, reporting to the Commercial Director. As a professional body, the Bar Council relies on engagement between the profession and us, the Head of Bar Services being essential in enhancing this engagement for the benefit of the Bar and of the Bar Council. The role is responsible for income generation from services and training & events, as well as leading on the business partnerships programme and fundraising where applicable. To generate material value for the Bar Council (income from activities), the role holder must understand (or be eager to understand) the Bar and the professional landscape and environment, identifying opportunities and drafting business cases and cases for support for new initiatives. The role holder will manage two enthusiastic teams (Bar Services and Training & Events) through direct reports, who are manager-level.
