Chambers Director - Leading Barristers’ Chambers (London)

Our client is a leading Barristers’ Chambers providing advisory and advocacy services, with a pre-eminent reputation for its clinical negligence and healthcare practice, its expertise in public law and human rights and its professional disciplinary work. Chambers has 128 Barristers, including 27 QCs, in London and Brighton, where both barristers and staff are recognised for providing friendly, client-oriented and efficient services.

Due to the forthcoming retirement of the current Chambers Director, Chambers now seeks to appoint a successor for this important position.  The Chambers Director is responsible for the formulation and delivery of agreed business and professional objectives of all Members.

The Chambers Director is also responsible for the provision of an effective business service to Members of Chambers and clients through the management of Chambers’ finances, creation and implementation of business development and marketing strategy, regulatory and legal compliance, HR management including line management and development of staff, IT, facilities and complaints handling and troubleshooting.  They are also responsible for the effective leadership of Chambers’ staffing teams.  

Suitable candidates will possess a significant record of leadership and delivery in a legal, professional services or relevant senior management position.  They will be proficient in all areas of business finance including detailed reporting and presentation of information.  They must also be an outstanding communicator capable of quickly building professional relationships with colleagues and clients and being able successfully to influence both.  Tact, diplomacy and a natural ability successfully to manage expectations is also important.
