Assistant Chambers Administrator

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading set of barristers’ chambers in London. We’re highly ranked by Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 for our expertise in property law but also provide specialist advice across all areas of commercial disputes and private client work.
The Assistant Administrator will report to the Chambers Administrator and will be responsible for the smooth running of Chambers both of a day-to-day basis and in the longer term.

The summary of duties are as follows:

Property and Facilities
• All Health & Safety compliance
• General liaison with suppliers of all goods and service to chambers
• Reviewing maintenance contracts
• Organising Insurance (contents and building)
• Overseeing security of chambers (alarm queries and entry cards)
• Organising building valuations or quotations where necessary
• And day-to-day maintenance/building queries

Finance Administration
• Process invoices for payments from suppliers and filing appropriately
• Assisting with monthly management information where necessary
• Assisting with preparation of annual budgets for chambers
• Invoicing seminar payments or events
• Assist Fees Manager with payments received

General Administration
• Private Health care for members
• Assisting with induction packs for new members and staff
• Provide administrative support to Chambers Administrator and Chief Executive

Person specification
• Be highly organised, methodical, adaptable and able to proactively manage multiple tasks and schedules
• Trustworthy and able to exercise tact and diplomacy in an organisational setting
• Good levels of IT skills, including Microsoft word, Excel and Power point
• Ability to work unsupervised on regular tasks and ensure they are completed on time
• Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, clients and members of chambers over the telephone, by email and in person
• A calm, patient approach along with a professional outlook and attitude
• Neatness, accuracy and high attention to detail

Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience of working in a similar or related role of administrative work
• You will be based in our Chambers in Chancery Lane, London (full time)
• Hours 9-5.30pm
• Salary commensurate with experience £25 -£30,000 (an interest free travel loan, health care will be provided after successful completion of six-month probation) Work place pension
• 20 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays
